Important information for US customers:
Due to recent changes in US trade regulations, certain goods containing Chinese-sourced components are now subject to a 10% tariff upon entry into the United States.
While our products are designed, printed, and manufactured in Canada, some component materials may be sourced internationally, including from China. Under current US policies, this means our shipments to the US may be subject to a 10% import tariff, applied by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
Who pays the 10% tariff?
- We use standard shipping (via Chit Chats, then USPS), which means US Customs (CBP) may apply the tariff when your package enters the country. In this case, USPS may deliver your package first, and CBP may bill you separately.
- If you prefer for us to use courier shipping (UPS/FedEx), the carrier will collect the 10% tariff from you before delivery. You may be required to pay this fee directly to the courier before receiving your package.
- We currently do not cover US import tariffs in our pricing. If a tariff is applied, you, the product recipient (customer), is responsible for payment.
How much will the tariff be?
For our products that contain components sourced from China, the current tariff is set at 10% of the declared value of your purchase. Example:
- If your order is valued at $50 USD, the tariff would be $5 USD.
- If your order is valued at $100 USD, the tariff would be $10 USD.
This tariff is collected by US Customs and Border Protection and is not a fee set or collected by our store.
What you can do:
📌 Be aware of possible tariffs before placing your order.
📌 If using a courier (UPS/FedEx), expect to pay the tariff before delivery.
📌 If using standard shipping (Chit Chats or Canada Post USPS), you may or may not be billed separately by US Customs.
The prior section 321 de minimis rule (Section 321(a)(2)(C) of the US Tariff Act) that allowed for an $800 USD threshold for low-value imports has been suspended for any products that contain China-sourced components.
Most of our shipping goes through Chit Chats, the most affordable carrier we’ve found so far, unless you are located in a rural or remote area, and then shipping must be handled through a different carrier.
For metropolitan service, Chit Chats works with the USPS to offer “last-mile delivery,” i.e., the USPS accepts your package from the Chit Chats network and delivers it to your door. As such, the tariff administration will be in the hands of the USPS.
We understand that unexpected fees can be frustrating. If you have questions about tariffs or need help selecting the best shipping option, please reach out to us before placing your order. Email us at info@bardandbloom.com.
